Submissions for the ACADIA 2017 Conference are closed.

 a) Peer-reviewed Research Papers: 

• Long Papers: 4,000 words max (Presentations ± 15 mins)



Long Papers describe work that is embedded within significant bodies of research or creative practice. A long paper is categorized by research-based projects, design processes, and/or novel techniques and methods which contribute to the advancement of the field of computational design. Papers must be concise and follow the structure of a scientific paper providing: Abstract, Introduction, Background, Methods, Results and Reflection, and Conclusion. Long papers must emphasize the significance of the work and its historical and/or theoretical context. Long papers may also be entirely historical or theoretical in nature.

Long Papers should be no longer than 4,000 words, excluding the abstract, captions and endnotes. Low-resolution images and captions should be embedded in the paper. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process.

• Short Papers: 2000 words max (Presentations ± 7 mins)



Short Papers describe developing work or an individual project which has yet to be placed within a larger context of on-going research. A short paper is categorized by a novel project, method and/or design approach which has the potential to contribute to the advancement of the field of computational design. Papers should adhere to the following structure: Introduction (including brief description of background and precedents), Methods, Results, and Conclusion (including a reflection upon future development and potential contribution to the field).

Short Papers should be no longer than 2,000 words, excluding the abstract, captions and endnotes. Low-resolution images and captions should be embedded in the paper. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process.

    IMPORTANT DATES FOR PAPER SUBMISSIONS:

• Paper Submission Deadline: May 21, 2017, 11:59 PM PST



Papers should utilize the Word document provided, be saved as a PDF, and submitted via the conference submission website.
Due to the increased number of paper submissions for ACADIA 2017, the review process will be completed by July 12, 2017.
Authors will be notified as soon as the review process is complete.

• Revision Submission Deadline: July 21, 2017



If the paper is accepted, the author will be asked to make revisions based on the blind review comments and to reformat according to the ACADIA 2017 template for publishing.

• Conference Registration Deadline for Authors: August 1, 2017

 b) Jury Selected Projects: 

The ACADIA 2017 exhibition will highlight experimental projects and design work in which methods, processes, and techniques have been developed or discovered that illuminate the conference theme. Project submissions will be selected by a jury to be exhibited during the conference, and will be published in a full color catalogue. The technical chairs may additionally select certain projects to be presented as a short presentation (+/- 7mins) during the conference sessions. This is a digital competition and no hard-copy proposals will be accepted.

    IMPORTANT DATES FOR JURY SELECTED PROJECT SUBMISSIONS:

• Project Submission Deadline: May 21, 2017, 11:59PM PST



The project submission will consist of a title, a project description of no more than 600 words, plus a maximum of 20 images, formatted within a letter-sized or A4 document and submitted via the conference submission website as a single, multipage PDF. The text description should comprise the first page of the PDF and each image should be formatted to fit on a single page, oriented either horizontally or vertically. Captions are strongly encouraged as part of the image pages. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process.

Due to the increased number of project submissions for ACADIA 2017, the review process will be completed in July 12, 2017.
Designers will be notified as soon as the review process is complete.
